Willo Beach Sanctuary is a nonprofit animal shelter focused on efforts for community cats.
Colors for Willo Beach Sanctuary
Many parks and beaches right on Lake Erie have large and old weeping willow trees. I want to show this history and reason for the name, as well as incorporate the natural elements of willow trees within the designs for this project. The colors are modern rustic with cool and muted tones, such as the green and blue colors from the left half of the color wheel. These colors convey a calming mood. The natural tans or browns are earth tones seen in nature you see daily.
Texture Inspiration for Willo Beach Sanctuary
Following the natural elements of the name and rustic themes, the inspirational textures here are wood and willow tree leaves to be incorporated in the designs. A metal or slate sign might be a background for text. The main focus of this project is assisting with community cats found roaming the streets, so I have included a frequent stray cat: a black cat's up close fur. For printed material, matte finishes would be used over gloss or coated finishes to keep that rustic feel.
The idea for Willo Beach Sanctuary is to have a fun and inviting theme for the core audience of animal friendly people. I like the idea of utilizing a black cat silhouette, but also showing a cat's playful nature. The closeup of the cat's face is striking and eye-catching. Keeping these thoughts in mind will help with designs, specifically for the logo which will need simpler lines or easy to identify objects, such as a silhouette.
